The eighth at Shoreacres, 1957. Early on, a writer in Golfers Magazine had made a joke about the wooded, ravine-crossed site. “It is indeed a fortunate dispensation of providence that ground which is but poorly adapted to agriculture, should in many cases be particularly suited to golf links, and of Shoreacres, it can truly be said, that what would have made a very poor farm, will make an ideal course.”
