Wisconsin-born Frederick Wainwright Perkins (1866-1928) was a prominent Chicago architect who graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Highly successful in his day, Perkins favored Shingle-style and Queen Anne design and adopted his client’s preferences for Jacobean, Tudor, Mediterranean, Colonial, and other revival styles.
Perkins retired from active practice in 1924. His best-known work locally is Mayflower Place, built in 1915 for the Schweppe family.
