Making It Home

This property was subdivided from the Morse estate “Fairmore.” Fairmore, also known as “Carwythen,” was originally built in the Georgian style for Mark Willing by architects Frost and Granger in 1910. Willing never saw the property finished, however, as it was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dangler before it was completed. The Dangler family lived on the estate until 1923, when they built a new house on Mayflower. Fairmore was purchased shortly after by Charles H. Morse who lived there until the late 1950s.
When the property was subdivided in 1960, the main house was demolished but the gallery remained and was converted into a separate residence at 45 Stone Gate Lane. To the east, architect Walter Frazier was commissioned by Diane Scobie Coulter to build this home, a “New Formalist” Palladian Villa, a style which was popular in the late 20th century.
